Cook the irony.

Well this after a long time now that blogger is finally coming up with her another observed irony.

India- a conservative country by birth (though time is now changing and it’s coming out of its clutch), where men are supposed to do the business and earn money and women are meant to do the household work that includes taking care of family and home; And when I talk about home- It includes stuffs like cleaning, washing clothes, and most importantly cooking.
In India it’s so often that you will even find many people giving advice to newly wedded brides saying “the best way to reach husband’s heart is to reach via his stomach” meaning cook good food and he will be impressed!
But ironically in Indian restaurants, you don’t find women chefs.

For a country where women are supposed to be the Goddess of cooking, they supposed to be the master chefs of delicious food, then how come we don’t come across women chef’s at restaurants so often?

Is it still the conservative roots of this nation of not letting women enter into the business and earn money and let them cook behind the walls of their homes or something else?

Cook this irony and think about it for a while!!

  1. Haha... i like this one... well i don't know what the reason is, behind not seeing much women enter the 'COOKING WORLD' but whatever it is, the reason surely ISN'T that the world is not letting them enter the cooking business as we see women in almost every field.

Fields even where ONLY Men were considered to be the best candidates e.g.: wrestling, weight lifting etc...

So i don't feel that the reason has anything to do with being conservative. Maybe the household women are so tired doing the usual stuff at their homes that they want to experiment on something new. :)

  2. well, I did mention in the post that India is surely coming out of the whole of being called as a conservative country. I agree with you that yes, definetly now women can be seen in various fields..
But its 'now'. Now we can see women. But older India had older ideology where India was recoginized as a conservative nation, and that somewhere down the line did effect Indian women and prevented them from coming out their homes.
And still India is not completely free from its conservative thinking. It's till clutched and it can be seen and experienced in various dimensions.
Conservatism did play and is playing a major role. wana see large effect of it, scan the rural areas.
