Suicidal irony!!

Since ages, we hear people (of all age groups) saying, that depression, dejection, sadness or hopelessness invites one to murder him/herself, in other words- SUiCIDE!!

Since ages, I have heard the news of people strangling themselves; jumping from the top floor of their sky touching apartments; slitting their wrists; over drugging themselves; in short killing themselves. And for all the incidents, the underlying reasons of their act included- either depression or any difficulty which they thought they won't be able to handle.

Since ages, we hear people (especially the ones who are elder to us) saying that it’s best to bid this world our final goodbyes when everything around one is happy, at peace.

Since ages, I have NEVER heard the news of people committing this sin out of happiness. I mean, when according to the society, when a person is breathing the last gulp of air and if everything around him/her is happy, fine, then, the soul of that person remains at peace.
So common!! If society thinks like that, then why NO suicide attempts, when a person is living the best enjoyable time of his/her life.

This suicidal irony haunts me sometimes!! But it makes me clear at least one thing which is depression or just incapability of handling any dilemma or problem is not the only reason for a person to commit suicide. There is something more beyond it!! Something stronger, an inner call overpowered by the Satan of our soul that pushes someone to stop breathing!! I m sure I would find this unknown something. I’m searching and analysing this Suicidal Irony!!

Also, there is another irony hidden inside this suicide attempt- there is a possibility that a person, who is very optimistic, very positive, may get a feeling of committing suicide but literally; I mean as that person is sensible and carries a positive outlook so obviously he/she won’t commit such an awful sin in reality. But for a while he/she would definitely wonder, that how ironical was for him/her to even think about suicide.

Suicidal irony- eagerly waiting to decipher it!!

  1. Ahan!

Aditi, you are mixing several things up into one and getting wee bit confused.

First, almost all of the suicides, are basically rooted with fear. People get feared of the consequences of their actions, or fear of life, of future, that's why, they think killing themselves to be an easy way out, instead of feeling life and its both faces of happiness and darkness.

Secondly, yes, if a person is in absolute love, he may even kiss the lips of death, smiling.
I may elaborate on this, if u want.

Third, Fear, and the weakness of intellect and conscience are the only reasons behind a person's committing it...

Fourth, well, is there really anything, to worry about, if optimistic people, people of strong intellect think about death?

    Nope!

Infact, when one feels about death, it's good, as he/she is now able to get over his/her fear! Now s/he knows, what it is like, what will be the consequences. And the final realization is-

"I should get over thinking about it!"

Life, is simple, why complicate, and not let oneself enjoy it???

  2. well, yea I have mixed majorly two points!!
one- why no suicide attempts when one is happy. secondly- it feels bit weird when a positive person gets a feeling of committing suicide.

Thirdly, I feel there is something more beyond depression, or difficulty. You rightly said that all these reasons are rooted with fear!! But I guess, there is something more stronger than this. Fear is Not the ONLY basis.

yea, there is no harm if an optimistic feels like killing him/herself, but isn't this ironical situation. I guess it is.. I know each human mind feels both happiness and sadness, but thinking of committing suicide from a positive mind seems bit surprizing for a while!!

Life is simple.. true said... so why committ such an awful sin? But people do committ it for some unknown reason. And my search is for that unknown stronger reason which is hidden deep inside!!

  3. Yet, Fear is the principal reason, out of which all other reasons shoot out. Think over it! :-)

Yes, it's bit ironical if an optimistic person thinks about it. But, hey, there isn't anything to worry about!
If a person of weak intellect, who's pessimist, thinks about it, then there's a great problem.

But, a person who knows the beauty of life, can think and eventually shall get rid of the thought.
The key is to be united with the inner self... Then nothing will happen.

  5. Now after such a long time I think I'm getting what you were trying to say back then!!

Well there is no harm thinking about death but if a positive thinking, a happy person actually thinks about committing a suicide then I guess that person is being a bit selfish.

  8. Well here's another thought...

I think I may have found an answer to your suicidal irony.

People think about suicide maybe when they are not happy but they are not sad either. Maybe they have some hopes but they don't see any of them being fulfilled. Maybe they want to get away from everything, and getting away doesn't mean they want to go to a secluded place or something, they even want to get away from that too. Maybe they are just done with everything.

  9. ROFL! People think about suicide when they are not sad either?

LOL! then what are they? Confused or Adventurous? LMAO! EPIC that was :-D

People want to get away from everything only when they are SAD and have lost every inch of last hope and happiness around them which again EQUALS -> SADNESS.

  10. @kuber: well i don't agree at all on this. You saying that people think about suicide when they are not happy and not sad either.. they just done with everything?

    NO, obviously not.
Humans are not so week that a mere blank state of mind push them to take the decision of taking away their lives.

Talking about hope, well i guess we all have gone through many situations by now, where we feel no hope. Do we commit suicide???
    heck NO...

there's is a very heavy, important, very serious unknown reason for a person to commit suicide. And yea, i agree i got one answer for it(read above comments)- Fear. I agree fear is one of the reason but still, something more stronger awaits.
and your point is still unclear about the selfish point you made...
