REACTION...

I knew this little girl who was in her middle secondary school and one day I saw her attending her co-curricular period. Teacher told students to write anything either a poem or an article; anything they feel like writing.
It was for the first time that this girl opted to write poem.. Neither she had interest in poems nor had she ever written a poem before.

Anyways!! one poem was written:
(Original-Unedited version)

Seasons
Seasons are like colours of rainbow,
Come as flower open steady and slow.
Having different significance in each life,
They bring joy and happiness in their lives.
Summers, winters are the two seasons,
That are opposite to each one.
Hot summers make us so rude,
Winters make us feel so cool.
Spring makes earth a mesmerizing palace,
Filled with greenery and sweet smelling flowers.
Autumn on its own reflects its loneliness,
By making colourful nature into mess.
Seasons are like colours of rainbow,
Come as flower open steady and slow.
How different are they from each other,
But still they bring joy in people,
By coming one after and other.. “

I guess, you all must have noticed several mistakes committed in this poem, plus you all must be thinking that it doesn’t even follow a proper format of a poem....
Even girl knew this!! So because of this fear that this poem was not fine and had loads of mistake, she never submitted this poem. I guess, this was among one of the good decisions that she took in her life. As that paper was needed at a time later to make her realize something.

In her final year of school, she read some poems of her friend. She didn’t like the theme of a poem she read as it was really very sad and depressing. She told her friend about this, and as a reply she was challenged to write a poem on the opposite theme as a reply.

She wrote it.
One poem was again been written.

..............
Days passed by, thoughts were written in the horde of words... Words, which earlier were not connected properly; but later, slowly-steadily, they joined in a pretty good presentable manner.

Who wrote these words??

SHE
But you all must be wondering, since when she started writing, when we all knew that she had least interest in writing?
It was because of a REACTION.....

Sometimes it’s the “reaction” that makes you realize what you like. And that reaction was given to her by her friend as a challenge that time.

After a long time, cleaning her cupboard, she found a folded paper. It was the same old paper on which her first poem was written. She smiled and cried too.
This was the moment when she realized that, in her middle school, her decision to write a poem reflected her interest towards writing. It was just, that she didn’t realize that time.
But thanks to that REACTION, which helped her to realize her hidden interest.

I heard that “something done in response to a reaction is not done by taking much interest. It’s just some sort of an ego where we want to prove that we can do something as a reply to that reaction.”
I even heard that “anything in reaction goes waste!! And even if one start taking interest in the thing which he or she started doing as a reply to a reaction, one looses that interest after a period of time.”

Well it can be true sometimes; But NOT always.
There is another side to this topic of REACTION which says.....

Enjoying and taking interest in something, even for a small duration is better than nothing....

And that girl believes in this side of REACTION. And that’s is the reason that today she enjoys many compliments given to her for her writing specially poems..
But the best compliment she thinks she ever received till date is of her being called as “Phillo - poetess”

Re-action has an action in it. An action is something that exist now. Re-action occurs and fades away and it's only the action which stays, may be forever or for a short duration;

  1. The poem, must have made you realize, that Poetry is intrinsic, inside, YOU.

The moment of "reaction" you had, just ignited that forgotten, love... Re-invigorated that passion of yours, which you had... And, thank her for that.
Yes, it was a "reaction". But note, it is fundamentally different to that in the case of the "boy".. (http://ideatingfreak.blogspot.com/2010/01/newtons-third-law.html)

So... Poetry will be with you, till you breathe... You live life, like a poem... The flowing air, may seem like flowing sonnets...

"Enjoying and taking interest in something, even for a small duration is better than nothing...." I agree!

Strange are the ways of nature...

Keep writing... Oh no! You don't have to.. That comes naturally to you...

    Spread ur wings!

The post goes down deep, to the heart...

Again the word, "loose", with a double "o" has been used...

  3. When I first read the poem I was amazed the way that little girl has described all the seasons, I didn't pay attention to the grammar at all.

Whosoever said "anything in reaction goes waste" was an idiot. Usually one thing that is present behind a reaction is a stimulus, perhaps the world we live in, keeps on providing us such stimuli and perhaps it is this stimulus that keeps on motivating us. Such reactions make us do things that we would have never done by ourselves, they help find our likes and dislikes, our interests and in some special cases of people like this little girl, they help find one's hidden talents, but nothing ever goes to waste.

I also know this little girl but not as well as you do and based on what I know about her, I can say that she hasn't lost interest in poetry or I should rather say that over the years she has improved her writing skills a lot, so maybe it wasn't just a reaction it was something more than that.

Just convey a small message from me to that little 'Philo-poetess' that the side of reaction which she believes in, is the only side one should believe in. Tell her not just to enjoy the compliments she gets but also the work she does. Me as a reader really enjoy reading her poems. (Probably she already knows all of this but still do convey this message to her.)

Kudos to that little girl, I just hope that I could write like her someday.
BTW you didn't tell us which poem was written in reaction to that challenge, I'm curious to know!

  7. So much has been said in the praise of this poem, that there is nothing to add.

Being a beginner level student of language, my comment would sound inept.

So i am just gonna say three words.

    Its really amazing!
